Aurora Borealis, most commonly know as AB. When applied on clear crystal,
the color is Crystal AB, sometimes abbreviated as CAB. Aurora Borealis It is a
very light rainbow effect that leans toward a pale yellow tone, but shimmers in
pink and blue as well. When applied on a color bead, it changes the color just
slightly and gives it a rainbow effect. On Jet it makes a strong rainbow effect.
Comet Argent Light , also known as CAL. This is a bright silvery
finish. It has no other color characteristics. It is also available in 2x on
plain crystal, making the crystal look like a silver bead that does not tarnish.
When applied to half of a bead, it looks very interesting, with half the
bead looking like silver and the rest taking the color of the crystal
itself.
Satin, also known as Hematite . It is still called
Hematite on certain colors, and it is characteristic for the extra sheen it
gives to the beads. On the color Jet, it looks like hematite. Hematite 2x is
common on colors. Among the 2x satins we carry are Jet Hematite 2x, Crystal
Hematite 2x and Siam Hematite 2x.
Vitrail Medium and Vitrail Light . These coating shine in different
colors depending on how the light hits the surface of the finish. When the
coating is seen through clear crystal, it takes on strong red and green tones.
Vitrail Light is just lighter in tone. These finishes are not normally used on
colored crystal and are not transparent.
Bermuda Blue. When seen through clear crystal, it takes on a deep blue
tone. When seen directly on the surface of the finish it is a dark navy blue.
This finish is not normally used on colored crystal. It is not transparent.
Glacier Blue . Has a cobalt blue appearance on its surface
and through the bead. It can be applied to a colored bead because it is
attractive on its outer surface. A common use is Jet Glacier Blue. (Glacier Blue
finish on a Jet crystal).
Heliotrope. This finish has a deep purple and deep green
appearance when seen through the crystal. On its outer surface, it is a dull
gray and brown. My opinion is that this coating is most attractive on Crystal
(as a color), because its surface is not particularly appealing.
Dorado. the newest finish from Swarovski. This finish has a
bronze appearance. It is not transparent.
