Dear Jerry,
Blue the Gem for Today: I just got back from a
wholesale show and Turquoise is super hot right now,
unfortunately, the prices are creeping up. In
addition, I was seeing a lot of pink, and reds. We
Picked up several new items check them out in the
What's New Section.
Mothers-Bracelets are doing wonders for the world of
beads. These cannot be mass-produced; you'll never
see them at Wal-mart or Target. I've met people that
are making these and selling them at home parties for
around $49.00 / strand.
It seems once people see how easy Mothers-Bracelets
are to make that they always branch out.
Many people ask me how to get started. Okay;
- Look at jewelry, notice how the ends are made and
connected.
- If you have a local library, check to see if they
have a copy of: "The Best Little Beading Book" by
Wendy S. Conner. If not have them get you a copy. In
addition, see if they have a copy of "The Basics of
Bead Stringing" by Dave Champion

From My FAQ's
- Q: I just received my order. is everything
sterling silver? I thought it was but the earring posts
don't look it and I don't see the sterling stamp on them
anywhere.
A: In the USA, The National Gold and Silver Marketing
Act does NOT require precious metals to be marked
with quality. However, if a quality mark is used, the
mark must be accompanied by a manufacturer's
hallmark that is a registered trademark.
For many reasons, not all silver jewelry is marked.
Registering a trademark costs over $1000. The maker
may not spend the money to have a legal hallmark.
Small time artists and Native American silversmiths
rarely trademark their work. The sizes or designs of
some pieces do not lend themselves to quality marking.
- Q: Do you have gold filled alphabet Beads?
A: I can special order a 14k gold bead alphabet bead.
They run about $10.00/15.00 each.
Sincerely,
Jerry Smith
