Nancy Lee Binkley aka Florabeader

I have been beading flowers for about 10 years now. Thank you for your interest in my Flower Garden.

I chose the Victorian Style of Flower Beading because of the quality of detail you can achieve with it. In many of the other methods you get an idea of what the flower may look like, but usually that is about it.

I found my love for Flower Beading about ten years ago in a dream. (Beads and wire danced in a pattern that soon became a Christmas tree.) I went out the next day bought beads and wire and after many trials and errors I made, and still have, that tree. Then I started making, rose bushes, tulips, Boston ferns and 3-D scene’s: Waterfalls where the beaded water cascades down a rock face with beaded plants and flowers growing here and there and little gardens with miniature apple trees, corn plants and pumpkins. However; These little bits of beads soon lost their magic for me and I had to embark on the “Journey of the Full Size Flower”. Since I knew nothing of beading other than what I had made up, I continued with the same stitch that I had started making miniatures with. (I have later learned that this stitch is called The Ladder Stitch or Victorian Stitch.) I made alterations in technique to allow for the heavier petals and leaves that a full size flower has and I feel that I have done that and very well indeed.

I have over 30 patterns done at this time and will continue with new ones till I cannot see the beads anymore.

I count my success in the amount of Fellow Beadworkers who have bought my patterns and kits and continue to return to buy more. I count my success in the smiles of my students who are on their way to decorating their homes in beautiful beads.
