Dr Scholl's Sandals
A few years ago, Dr Scholl's sandals were sold in old-fashioned chemists alongside corn plasters and insoles, or in the kind of shoe shops where comfort and longevity were put way ahead of style or fashion.
Then, young actresses such as Cameron Diaz were spotted teaming their sundresses with Dr Scholl's and a renaissance was under way.
When Sarah Jessica Parker traded in her Manolo Blahniks in an episode of Sex and the City last year, some 30,000 pairs were sold in the following months.
"Painting Dr. Scholl's sandals is a very popular thing right now,"
says one Urban Outfitters manager. "We love the idea. In fact, we have several painted pairs on display in
our stores to give people ideas on how to take them home and personalize them."
